IPT
Inter-Personal Therapy is a process of examining and adjusting patterns of relating during the therapy session.
Our individual pattern(s) of relating to others is typically developed in childhood and maintained in adulthood. This pattern can include being passive, assertive or aggressive. It can also involve varying levels of emotion.
These patterns will largely determine the pattern’s of people we seek to spend time with and how we relate to them. ITP can be an effective way to create awareness of these patterns, examine them, and decide whether to keep or change them.
This awareness is particularly relevant when dealing with relationships and couples, to determine and question the styles of relating that couples have developed.
