ACT

ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

A large part of ACT involves the amalgamation of 2 primary approaches to understanding human behaviour and change: 1. Learning theory and 2. Mindfulness.

1. Learning theory, otherwise known as behaviourism, is a study of how the interaction between an environment and a person results in behaviours, thoughts and feelings.

2. Mindfulness can be improve our ability to notice cause and effect, how one thing leads to another in a sequence. This awareness can afford us the opportunity to reduce automatic resplonding and increase consciously chosen actions.
