Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy? Hypnosis is not an intervention. It is an intervention enhancer.
The process of therapy explores and considers new thoughts and behaviours to approach issues. The process of hypnosis with metaphors afford the client an opportunity to integrate those new approaches into their unconscious so that the client may act upon the new approaches and not forget.
The process of hypnosis is not unlike the process of children learning lessons through children’s stories and fables. However, in hypnotherapy, we agree on what we want to learn before it becomes a story.
Naturalistic Clinical Hypnotherapy has largely been influenced by the work of Milton H. Erickson who was documented in the recent film, Wizard of the Desert. I have been privileged to study and train in Erickson’s naturalistic style under Michael Yapko during his visits to Australia.
